Z06 OEM wheels fitment in ws6 CETA's

Postby Orville » Jun 14th, '06, 20:54

I was goint to ask in LS1 tech but the hatred is too much for me. Here I go... The wheels I found are 17" 9.5 54 offset for the fronts. That should not be a problem to fit with a 275/40/17 tire. But the issue is the rear wheel and tire. The wheel is a 18" 10.5 58 offset the tire I'm looking for them are 285/35/18 or 295/35/18. Some people in other forums claim they need the BFH(Big Fuc...ng hammer) mod. or a spacer. Some claim with WS6's not need other yes, fender hammer, OHH my goodness too much to handle. What I want is to put a tire so I don't have to mess too much with this issue. I prefer the spacer so I don't have to hammer anything. Other says they don't trust the spacer. Ohh well if somebody can drop an idea or anything please let me know how to work this one out. Thanks again....Orville

Orville, The spacer they are talking about is standard on the WS6 and Camaro SS cars and is located between the bumpstop and bumpstop mount. I believe it is about 3/4" and they decrease the travel distance for the axle to the stop. I had to add them to mine since mine started life as a lowly TA and didn't have them when I mounted the 17X11 ZR1s and Eibachs. As for fender and other clearence issues that would necessitate the BFH I am unsure in your application. Hope that helps somewhat.

I'm going to try the 285/35/18 tires to see if I can prevent some BFH. I did't see anything that look like a spacer near the bump stop. But once I decide the tires I'll test them and see. Thanks Ezekiel.....
